Step 1: Understand what you currently have

Many businesses are still running network gear that's over 5 years old — sometimes just a consumer-grade router picked up during renovation. Consumer equipment isn't built for a business environment: once more than about 10 devices connect at once, speed and stability start to break down.

  • Business-grade Wi-Fi with full-site coverage
  • A guest network kept separate from the internal network
  • Basic network security protections

Step 3: Don't wait for a breakdown to act

The real cost of a network problem usually isn't the repair bill — it's the downtime. A single outage can disrupt a full day of production, customer service, and payment collection. Upgrading proactively is almost always cheaper than fixing it after it fails.

Step 4: Find a local IT partner who actually shows up

A network problem isn't solved by simply buying new equipment. You need someone to assess your current setup, design the right solution, install and configure it — and respond quickly when something goes wrong. An out-of-town vendor might quote a lower price, but they won't be on-site within two hours when you need them most.
